Donkey Riding
An alternative way to get the real Cretan feeling is ride on a donkey. At our stables we have 20 of them!
Donkeys are very calm and friendly animals, offering a very peaceful ride. They were very popular in Greece until the end of the 60’s. Each family, lived in the countryside, had its own donkey, and they were mainly used as a means of transportation and as well as in most agricultural activities.
Unfortunately, nowadays donkeys are a species on the brink of extinction. In co-operation with G.A.W.F. (Animal Action in Greece), Plakias Horse Riding Center shelters and takes care of many other donkeys in the surrounding area that are very old or retired.
